lost in penang

penang was very lucky on the 25th of november. five fine foxy babes made their way down to the island of fun + frolic. amy, dzu, ena, hanis + me. we had a fabulous time in penang. half of the trip was spent navigating a rm6 map that is useless (due to recent road modifications). penang is an island of one way streets + suka-hati-mak-lu drivers. not that they were fast or reckless but a lot of them seems to have a knack for turning at very last minute without prior signals. also that some drivers were taught to drive between lanes + NOT in them. you know who you are..

however penang makes it up by being a shopping mecca. we shun away from the major shopping malls + headed down to the ghettos i.e. komtar. its massive. its like pertama complex + sungai wang + makro rolled into one. we had a great time bargain hunting. we agreed that if our boyrfriend or spouses had come along on this trip, it wouldn't be fun dragging sulking 30 year old brats about. we admit, we could spend a day rummaging through rm10 bins. (see photos).

another thing that was awesome about our trip was the thai fair next to our hotel. we pratically had our breakfast, lunch + dinner there. the food was orgasmic! the best dish for me was the siam laksa and the meng kam (looks like sireh, tastes like heaven). more bargains around the corner as we found cheap clothes direct from thailand that had people squealing in delight because it looks like clothes from topshop, zara, miss selfridge + mng casuals.

we had to do the gurney drive stalls however when we reached the place, no stalls were to be seen! shock shock horror horror. but thanks to a kind lady. we found the stalls. we had two large plates of fried oysters, assam laksa, rojak buah, fried kueh teow + something else fried that looks like cubes but tastes like bland kueh teow.

on another night we went to this restaurant in tanjung bungah called end of the world. we drove for an hour + it felt like we're going to the end of the world. a quaint restaurant near the smallest roundabout ever. the food was good except for when the bill arrived. rm52 for a fish! aiyayayayai plus no booze. ripoff!! next time i feel like having fish in penang, i'm bringing my own jala!

as for entertainment, the boys in penang are pretty fit! six packs and a tan. i didn't bother looking at their faces.. my bad. but seriously, penang people knows how to party. for the two nights we were there, we partied. i don't do two nights in a row but with this bunch of reckless party animals (hahahaha actually they're as tame as kittens but once in penang, it was like dr. jekyl/miss hyde) the first night was fun. we went to slippery senoritas. i believe dzu has a car battery lodge up her skirt coz regardless what kinda crappy song they played, she had an absurd amount of energy! she was our disco bunny. i had the privilege of smoking cigarettes + looking good. some randy young boys came up to us as we left the club. it was clear their intentions were to ngorat. one guy came up to amy + forced a conversion by asking if she's from kl. she said yes + there was silence. he forced another question that took longer to answer : he asked for her number. we looked at each other to figure out how to handle this situation but our disco bunny came to the rescue by saying flat out "i don't think so" + on three, we blew that joint. but i guess there is such thing as karma. we probably made that guys night miserable so all the negative karma energy were targetted at us. we got fined for a parking violation. sialan..

on the second night i thought we were having a relaxed night. boy was i wrong. disco bunny + company was madddd for another night out. preparing for it was great as i donned my madam jojo persona (this character was created for the purpose of entertaining) madam jojo's background : a campy make up artist with a eastern european accent probably of gypsy/indon parentage - go figure lah. so all the girls got pretty dolled up with industrial strength make up i.e mac. we partied at this club called mambo. it seemed unassuming from outside but when you enter, its massive! its like the size of two basketball courts. we couldn't squeeze in to the second room so we stayed in the first. we managed to find a spot + shake our booties. our disco bunny was the target of a dyke who offered her a drink. but it all ended well. we didn't diss anyone off nor did we get any parking tickets.

til the next time we get rid off the boys.. penang here we come!

enjoy the photos
